About IMS
IMS is a dry needling technique that uses a thin filament needle to reduce adverse tone in tight muscle bands or trigger points that contribute to pain and dysfunction. By targeting localized areas of tightness with the needle insertion, a reflex relaxation is produced in the muscle. This can help to “reset” tissue to its natural resting length, relieve pain associated with trigger points, improve flexibility and reduce compression on associated joints. IMS re-establishes optimal nerve and muscle function thereby restoring normal mobility. This type of treatment is very effective for chronic pain conditions and recurring injuries as it gets to the cause of the problem. IMS is paired with a corrective exercise program and other forms of manual therapy results to create a sustainable result.
IMS can help with many conditions such as (but not limited to): back pain, chronic pain, frozen shoulder, headaches, whiplash, neuropathic pain, osteoarthritis, sciatica, tennis elbow.
